History and Timeline is the main historical section of the Erindal Wiki. It collects the chronology of the world, the calendar used to date events, the histories of individual nations and articles about wars, disasters, rulers and other events which changed Erindal.

The section is not one enormous timeline. Chronology of Erindal gives the accepted order of world events, while pages such as History of Kurn Daruhm explain why those events happened and what they changed. The Calendar of Erindal establishes how dates should be written across all of these articles.

World chronology

The Chronology of Erindal is the master order of events used by the wiki. It begins with the Celestial Disarray, Elaria and the Shattered One, continues through the First Awakening and the rise of the first gods, and later enters recorded mortal history.

Events from the oldest ages do not receive invented numbered years. They are placed inside named mythic eras. Numbered BHF and AHF dates are used only when mortal records make such precision reasonable.

The main eras are:

• the Celestial Disarray;
• the Ordering and the Shattering;
• the First Awakening;
• the First Planar Intrusions;
• the Age of First Gods;
• the War of Souls and the Age of the Pact;
• the Early Mortal Ages;
• the Age of the Keepers;
• After Harmony's Fall.

Calendar and dating

The Calendar of Erindal explains the Continental Reckoning. It includes the twelve months, the nine-day week and the division between BHF and AHF. The page should be used whenever a new article introduces an exact date.

The accepted present year is 4318 AHF. The fall of the Keepers is treated as the epoch, but there is no formal year zero. The year 1 BHF is followed by 1 AHF.

National and regional histories

National history articles explain the development of one realm instead of repeating the entire world chronology. They include foundations, changes of government, expansion, disasters, wars and the events which created the present political situation.

A biography belongs under Characters or Religion and Deities, but it may also appear here when that person had a major historical role. Dynasties, councils, churches and other institutions belong in the historical archive when their development has its own article.

Examples include Durgadd Fireblessed, Doramin, Drogan Ironheart III, the Council of Dwarves, the Keepers of Harmony and the Conclave.
